Ice Breaker Clinic : Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Board Room and on Field #4 at NFCP
Session I (8:45am - 10:00am)
Topic: Short Sided Games for U-8 thru U-12 players.
Clinician: Doug Williamson, Coerver Coaching
Session II (10:15am - 11:30am)
Topic: Defending - Individual and small group.
Clinician: Matt Fletcher, US Elite Soccer
Lunch: (11:45AM - 12:45PM) Bring your own bag lunch.
Session III (1:00pm - 2:20pm)
Topic: Attacking Play
Clinician: Sam Snow, Asst. Tech. Director, USYSA
Session IV (2:50pm - 4:10pm)
Topic: Positional Play
Clinician: Dave Nesbitt, Tech. Director, SAC
Bring a bag lunch. Fee is $10. for SAC coaches.
All Recreational and Travel League coaches in SAC, including coaches from outside Clubs who play in SAC leagues, are encouraged to attend these sessions. If you can't attend all of the sessions, come to those you can.

POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE TRAINING SEMINARS: Wed., March 5, 2008(Coaches); Thurs., March 13, 2008(coaches) and Wed., March 26, 2008 (Parents) in Covenant Baptist Church (adjacent to our facility at Covenant Park)
FOR COACHES:
Wed., March 5, 2008: Double Goal Coach: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons - PCA's core workshop that trains Double-Goal Coaches, whose first goal is winning, and whose second, more important goal is using the sport to teach life lessons. Emphasis is placed on the principles of (1) redefining winner, (2) filling emotional tanks, and (3) honoring the game.
Thurs., March 13, 2008: Double Goal Coach: Culture, Practices and Games - An intermediate workshop that works on the following: (1) help coaches help athletes to strive for excellence, (2) provide a "10 step guide" to successful practice sessions, and (3) explore the art of game coaching.
FOR PARENTS:
Wed., March 26, 2008: Second Goal Parent's Workshop - A workshop in which parents learn how to teach life lessons through sports including: (1) recognition of the three major stages of talent development in young athletes, (2) engaging in empowering conversations with your children, and (3) structuring a positive parent/coach relationship.
All workshops will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church, adjacent to our facility at Covenant Park.
For the second consecutive year, SAC is partnering with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) for a series of workshops targeting both coaches and parents. The Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a non-profit organization founded at Stanford University with the mission to transform the culture of youth sports. Through its workshops targeted to coaches, parents, and youth sports leaders, the PCA strives to promote a healthy, positive environment for young athletes where building character and learning life lessons are paramount to winning games.
