AGE GROUP CHANGES

Starting next year (Fall 2026/Spring 2027), the age group parameters for our program registrations will be changing from the current ‘Birth Year’ classification system to a ‘Seasonal Year’ classification system. The new ‘Seasonal Year’ cutoff for every age group will be August 1 – July 31. 

Why:

As a result of US Soccer’s new policy, US Youth Soccer (collectively with AYSO and US Club Soccer) has decided to move to an age group player formation cycle that runs from August 1 to July 31, starting with the 2026-27 season/registration year.  

Benefits: 

• More players will be able to play with their school classmates, improving team chemistry and social connections. 
• Increased player retention. 
• Closer alignment with school grades allows for more appropriate development opportunities.

Playing In An Older Age Group:

SAC players will continue to have the option to register/tryout for programs one age group older.

PlayMetrics registrations for 2026/2027 programs will default to the players correct age group based on the new cutoff dates. If a player wishes to register in an older age group, they will need to contact the SAC registrar to have that registration option made available. Once the program opens, please email registrar@sac-hc.org to request this option.
